The
BMW Performance Center is an impressive building that houses the
driving school, conference center and vehicle delivery area for
new car buyers.
A cafeteria
and dining area is offered on-site for morning coffee and delicious
lunches at noon time.
Classroom
instruction each morning was brief and to the point. It was used
to setup what events would be done during the next few hours.

Chief Driving Instructor,
Dan McKeever, shares last minute thoughts before beginning a special
water wall exercise with the students.
Preparing
for a braking exercise, the group gets last minute pointers. Student
safety was the major thrust of every event on the schedule.
The
skip pad under dry conditions showed students how quickly control
of the car could slip away from them.
The
skid pad under wet conditions really test the students skill at
controlling the auto when it begins to break loose.
| |
Off-road
track for testing out one of the new X5's was well planned and really
puts the vehicle and the driver through their paces.
One
of the finally events was a timed slalom event which brought together
various aspects learned during the two day clinic.
| |
The
special timing equipment gave students first hand knowledge about
how slalom scores could improve not because of speed but because
of car control.
The
final day included runs in different types of BMW's including the
328i, 540i, X5, Z3 and pictured here the M3 Coupe.
| |
The
Z3 had a good balance of handling and power which allowed some of
the best timed runs by the students.
Congratulations
to this graduating class of the two day Advanced Car Control Clinic.
