Day 2

This odd site is four complete outer shells hanging from the ceiling of the Menard Racing Shop.

This is a collection of Oldsmobile Aurora V-8's ready to be assembled for use in Menard race cars.
Here is an example of the carbon fiber "tub". It is the central component in the construction of an IRL racer.

Media members got a chance to ask questions of the team members at the various shops that they visited.
This USAC Sprint Car is an example of a true "grassroots" racer. USAC has been the training ground for many of the top names in the Indy Racing League.

A stop in the shop of the Dreyer & Reinbold Racing was a chance to view their Infiniti powered racers.
One of the stops included a visit with Arie Luyendyk, Sam Scmidt and Fred Treadway of the famed Treadway Racing Team.

Here is a group of the Treadway crew members working on a problem they hope to solve collectively.
One of the most exciting stops was at the 16th Street Speedway. The media got to meet 11 current USAC drivers who are racing in the IRL or hope to be soon.
