Chevrolet Camaro: American Sports Car
The Chevrolet Camaro was first introduced in mid-year 1966 as a 1967 model. It is credited with helping to redefine American automobiles. The car was designed to combat the very popular Ford Mustang. It had a similar design in terms of both appearance and optional equipment. The base price of the Camaro was a mere $2,466 for the standard coupe outfitted with a six cylinder engine. It was a bargain at the time for a car of this style and quality.

The Camaro was the brain child of the GM design chief Bill Mitchell. His idea was to take a page from the history of the Mustang and give it a Chevy appearance. The result was a body style that remained timeless with little modification during the thirty year history of the car.

What we have here is a collection of photographs of stock, modified and race ready cars captured in shows and museums across the United States. Enjoy a larger image by simply clicking on the icon to view it or to download it to your computer.
