The easiest and best maintenance to do
There
is no one right maintenance schedule for all cars, because all
cars are a little different. The maintenance schedule for your
car is found in your owners manual. Some car manufacturers suggest
two service categories, "severe" and "normal."
Many of
us fall into the "severe" category since we do a lot of stop-and-go
driving. By keeping your car on the appropriate schedule for the
kind of driving you do, you will spend a lot less money on the
car in the long run.
It is
important to get your car into a qualified mechanic on a regular
schedule and make sure the basic things like oil changes are done.
The value of the car is impacted by how well you keep it up.
Be sure
to follow the schedule set by the manufacturer and have your service
manual up dated (stamped) each time the car is serviced. This
will have a huge benefit in both the short and long run.
The easiest
tasks to do yourself, and one of the most important, is checking
and topping off fluids between service intervals. Things like
oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, battery levels and tire
pressure, can all be checked and maintained easily.
Take the
time to learn how to check these levels either by reading the
owners manual or having the person who services the car show you.
It can be very important on any cars and can be a tip-off of a
problem in the early stages if you are continuously adding vital
fluids like oil.
